Your images never leave your browser
Crunch is a client-side application. When you drop an image into Crunch, the compression happens entirely within your web browser using JavaScript. Your files are never uploaded to any server, transmitted over the network, or stored anywhere outside your device.
Image data
We do not collect, store, process, or transmit any image data. Your images exist only in your browser's memory during compression. Once you close or refresh the page, everything is gone.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site — page views, visit duration, and general traffic patterns. Google Analytics may collect anonymized data such as your approximate location, browser type, and device type. No image data is ever sent to Google Analytics.
You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Cookies
Crunch itself does not set any cookies. Google Analytics may set cookies to distinguish unique visitors. No cookies are used for advertising or cross-site tracking.
How it works
When you select or drop an image, the browser-image-compression library processes it using the Canvas API and Web Workers, all running locally in your browser. The compressed output exists only in your browser's memory until you choose to download it.
